"Unable to connect to your IMAP server” email error message

May 5, 2012 by carebare
Hi there, when I open my email using Mozilla Thunderbird I get the below error message:
“Unable to connect to your IMAP server. You may have exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server.”
Can anyone please help me solve this?

As the error message implies, you need to reduce the number of cashed connections. You can do that from Advanced IMAP Server Settings.

This can be done from Edit > Account Settings > Server Settings (under the mail account for which the setting should be modified) > Advanced > Maximum Number of server connections to cache.
