Remove the time from the publish date on my Joomla Articles

Dec 5, 2012 by ross
Hi..

I have a Joomla 1.5 website, and I want to display the date only without the time in the article view. Is there a way to do this without changing the files. Since as I understand I will have to repeat the file editing every time I do an update.
Any help will be appreciated..

The only way to do this in Joomla 1,5 is to edit the .ini file that has the value of that string. You are right, when you update the core, or the .ini files,  those  local changes can be overwritten when updating thethe edited language file. However, to avoid this issue, instead of changing the original file, you can use the file ‘xx’.override.ini. You should find this file in the administrator/language/overrides/
