Number of files in Joomla

asked Nov 29, 2013 in Website Builder by deepa1 (1,580 points)
Hi there,

I want to know how can I minimize the number and size of files building the cmsin my Joomla installations.  I have many installations and with mvc the number of files have just been getting bigger.  I used to delete files like componenets, plugins, but this rose issues when it wa time to update. What files from a Joomla installation I remove that won’t affect the updates later on and won’t give any errors etc.. and will save me space?
Appreciate any advice on this
Thanks you

If we assume that your server is configured properly to not allow  file structure browsing, you can save a good amount of files per installation if your remove the index.html in every folder.

Having a one main Joomla area and then subsets for every Joomla site is a good way to go. The subsets would need Configuration.php, templates, local images ,templates and local extensions depending on what you want on the site. The theme should not be an issue if only the core version needs updating , but it also depends on the Database.
