Migrating my Joomla site to another URL

Dec 15, 2012 by Donald
Using  Akeeba backup, I and moved my website from one URL to another one on the same server.

After doing the kickstart, I noticed that the menu links are not working, they show the new URL in the address bar, but they don’t work. Also the search isn't working. When I go to my site, the address  that shows up is http://www.mywebsite.com/community/bs.html which is the sameformat from the old website. If I browse with the long address, it comes up right. I tried checking the menu settings, and the URL I have there is correct. Does anyone know what to do?

Make sure you don’t have a URL redirect. If you do, then disabled it .

When Akeeba restores files,  it renames the ‘.htaccess’ to ‘htaccess.bak’. Rename this back to ‘.htaccess’ and wait for about 5 minutes for the server to pick up the changes that you just made.
