Mail function disabled on my Joomla site

Nov 8, 2013 by deepa1
Hi All

I recently updated to Joomla 3.2 and I right after the update, I started getting a message saying ”mail function has been temporarily disabled try again later”  every time I submit any forms such as the contact for. I know this has something to do with the Joomla 3.2 update but I have no idea what to do.
Any help is highly appreciated
Many thanks in regards

Go to your site configuration and try switching from sendmail to php mail.

Hey  deepa1,

You should check with your hosting provider to see if they have shut off the php mail() function for your site or not?

A simple test of the mail function:
Create a test_mail.php program in your root directory with this code (modify for your email accounts). Then execute it by http://www.yourdomain.com/test_mail.php

Code:

<?php
$to = "youraccount@gmail.com";
$subject = "Web Test";
$message = "Test of php sendmail capability.";
$from = "yourphpmailfrom@yourdomain.com";
$headers = "From:" . $from;
if(mail($to,$subject,$message,$headers)){
print"<br>Sent to: $to ... Sender: $from";
}else{
print"<br>Not sent to: $to ... Sender: $from";
}
?>
