Joomla Page Not Found Errors

Aug 14, 2013 by jomnew
Hi all
I am using static URLs in my Joomla site. I have been told by several users that they are experiencing a 404 error page not found error when they click on any menu item in my website. It looks like the SEF URL setting is making URLs that are not found.
How do I troubleshoot and fix this?
Please help

If you are using an Apache server, try using mod_rewrite module to make Joomla rewrite URLs in SEF form. Check out this module sh404SEF.

If the SEF URL is breaking the URLs Check the mod_rewrite and check if the Apache installation has mod_rewrite included. You can check this with your hosting provider.

To configure Joomla to use mod_rewrite
1.Look for the file .htacess.txt in the Joomla installed directory for a file named htaccess.txt and rename it to .htaccess. and restart  Apache.
2.Go to Site ->Global and in the SEO Settings, choose Yes for  Use Apache mod_rewrite section.
