Jan 24, 2013 by GeekNew
I am running my website on WP theme Twenty Eleven and I have noticed the note “Proudly Powered by WordPress” in the footer of all my pages. I want to remove this note. Can anyone please advice me how to do that?
Thanks in advanced

The powered by WordPress note text is in the footer.php file. Locate your footer.php file and in the file look for the below code and simply remove it
<div id="site-generator">
<?php do_action( 'twentyeleven_credits' ); ?>
<a href="<?php echo esc_url( __( 'http://wordpress.org/', 'twentyeleven' ) ); ?>" title="<?php esc_attr_e( 'Semantic Personal Publishing Platform', 'twentyeleven' ); ?>" rel="generator"><?php printf( __( 'Proudly powered by %s', 'twentyeleven' ), 'WordPress' ); ?></a>

Please note that  the footer.php will be updated whenever you update your WordPress, and so any changes you do there will be lost. So to  keep your changes, you can  make a copy of the theme in a new folder with a different theme name, or you create a child theme, and make the changes on the child theme.
