FTP from one host provider to another

Dec 24, 2013 by GeekNew

I had shared hosting from  Fasthosts with cPanel and recently I shifted my website to a  VPS  with another hosting company (1&1). The VPS uses CentOS/Plesk11

I have a lot of images  on my shared hosting and I need to move the all. If I download all the images using FTP to my computer and then upload them  to the new VPS it would take ages. So I was wondering if there is another way I can do this like if it is possible to FTP straight from the shared hosting to the VPS.
any suggestions are appreciated
Thank you

It is possible to FTP from your shared hosting to your VPS only if you have access to ssh in your VPS.
use wget visa ftp to download to your VPS

use this command
wget -r --ftp-user=YOURUSERNAME --ftp-password=YOURPASSWORD ftp://xxx.xxx.xxx.x/htdocs/YourGallery/*

This will copy the entire contents of your Gallery folder.
