Email error sent from my Joomla site

Jan 3, 2013 by Donald
Hi there,
I keep getting an email error message sent from my Joomla site to the email I registered as the Admin user email. This error message is:
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error.
retry timeout exceeded
I am not sure why I am getting this error.. Does any one have any ideas as to why I am getting this email and what I should be doing?

This email is a normal bounce back  and a  non-delivery message. You would get such emails when  your email address is marked as the sender in the Joomla configuration and the the address mailbox doesn’t  exist or the  mail server  of the recipient is down .

A  possible cause for this could be  an extension installed on your site that allows email insertion by a user of  your site to pass on emails to third parties, or to alert you of a  security vulnerability in your website. Check  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_injection and also check the Vulnerable Extensions List http://docs.joomla.org/Vulnerable_Extensions_List

If your email address is available in any of your articles, it might be that some visitor tried to send the link of your article to an email address that is  non-existent.
