DNS dig query

Apr 20, 2012 by citrix345

I have a Linux server and I'm running bind as DNS server. I want to know, what will happen if anyone tries to dig query on my DNS server? would it response if there is a zone file?

If someone runs a dig query on your server, and the domain being looked up is not in one of your zones, it will simply return zero answers.

If there's no local zone the behaviour depends on your configuration. You should disable recursive queries.
