cPanel / PDF Hotlink protection

Jul 20, 2013 by DinoGuy
Hi all
The hotlink protection in my  cPanel is working normal for files such as GIF,JPG and PNG and it hide s the direct access to the image files. The problem is in the PDF file. It’s not working. How can I enable the hotlink protection for my PDF files?
Does anyone have any ideas?
Appreciate any advice
Thanks

Try to  enforce the referrer checking with a custom mod_rewrite rules. Add the extension  'PDF'  to the following  ex http://www.mediacollege.com/internet/server/apache/mod-rewrite/hotlinking.html

Hotlink protection in cPanel can block direct access in browsers to .pdf files. So you can force your user to login to your system. However if you use a software such as IDM, it can extract the file if  you know the file URL without having to login to the system.
