WordPress is forcing target="_blank"

asked Apr 20, 2012 in General by vipGuest (380 points)
Hi there,

I'm trying to link segments of my page but I don’t know why wordpress is forcing the links to have the target “_blank” within the code.
This is the code I’m using;
<a name="top"></a>
<a href="#top">Top of Page</a>

Your help will be very much appreciated.

hi there,

try the following;

-deactivate all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin.
- switch to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
- reset the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin.

Add the below code inside the <head> section of your Theme's template header.php file:
<base target="_self" />
